As many of you know several years ago I was diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder.
Turns out both of my brothers have it as well. In fact a couple of years ago, my brother Josh suffered a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his arm and multiple pulmonary embolisms (PE) in his lungs.
He was in intensive care for several days and remained on a blood thinner for a while following.
We almost lost him but were so thankful that we knew about our blood disorder before his symptoms occurred. It is likely he wouldn’t have received proper care without this knowledge.
He has recovered and is now doing really well.
Since my diagnosis I have learned a lot about blood clots and clotting disorders and last summer I joined the board of the National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia (NATT).
The mission of NATT is to prevent, diagnose and treat blood clots and clotting disorders through research, education, support and advocacy.
The Minnesota chapter of NATT is only a few years old, but already we are working hard to make a difference.
On May 15, we will hold our first-ever fundraising walk event at Centennial Lakes in Edina, MN from 8am-11am.
I would love it if you all would join my team and walk with me.
If you can’t walk with me on May 15, please consider sponsoring me in my fundraising efforts.
My goal is to raise $1,000.
