Hi everyone!! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
As most of you probably know, I lost my mother to suicide when I was 10 years old. The loss of a parent is a life-changing event, and back when this happened to me there were really no resources or support systems in place to help find a way to cope with such a loss.
Comfort Zone Camp is an amazing organization which provides children a safe and fun place to get together and find ways to grieve, share and heal as they navigate through the devistating loss of a parent or significant family member. It is not a "crying camp!" It is a place filled with laughter, joy and of course the shared experience of sorrow- but it is a magical place for these kids. The non-profit camp is free for children to attend, and paid for by efforts like these. Children age 7-17 (typically) attend, and I have witnessed the strength and courage of these kids first hand. Please help me to raise money to send a child to camp! My daughter, our exchange student Marta and I will be walking and volunteering in memory of my mom... and also in memory of a dear friend Julie who recently passed away from ovarian cancer, leaving two sweet children behind.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thank you so much!!
UPDATE: Through the wonderful and generous support of my amazing friends and family, I have reached my original goal of $500.00, which will send one child to camp for free. I am increasing my goal now to $1,000.00 in the hopes that we can raise enough to send a second child to camp as well!! Thank you ALL so much for your love, generosity and support. I am truly blessed!!
