Streak for Pediatric Stroke

Purple for Piper

Piper is an in-utero stroke survivor.  She was diagnosed with Right Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy at 14 months.  This means her right side is affected and weakened.  Her grasp and gait are what we work on strengthening.  She wears a hinged AFO and often a Benik brace on her right hand. She has done 2 rounds of Constraint Induced Therapy that help her by casting the "good" arm for four weeks. This forces her to use the weaker arm constantly and begins to help build stronger neuropathways for strength and movement on the weakened side.  She is sweet and determined and ready to tackle anything!
