As some of you know, I began doing triathlons to raise money for various animal rescue groups over the past 3 years. This year my fundraising focus is on PETA. And since PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world, well, I just had to step it up and do an Olympic Distace triathlon to ask for your donations. So, every step and stroke of training I do to eventually complete the 1 mile swim followed by a 25 mile bike and leading lastly to a 10K (6.2 mile) run on Oct. 4, 2009 is motivated by my deep devotion to the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Please join me in supporting an organization who speaks for those who have no voice. I'd love for this venture to be my most successful to date. Won't you please consider donating any amount you can to support me in this?? My appreciation would be beyond words.
PETA's mission statement:
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), with more than 2.0 million members and supporters, is the largest animal rights organization in the world.
PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs.
PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.
