My name is Michelle Rounds and I recently went through a medical maze of undiagnosed pain, confusion and frustration. In May and June I was suffering from excruciating abdominal pain. After seeing a handful of doctors and having several CT scans, Xrays and MRI’s, I was told that whatever this was, it needed to come out and my surgery date was set for a week later. The biopsy took much longer than expected to come back and we were told that it was mesenteric fibromatosis; aka desmoid tumors. Since this is such a rare disease with a high level of recurrence I felt very scared and alone at first. Eventually, while searching the Internet with unrelenting determination for more information and patient support groups, I discovered DTRF. I started connecting with other patients that had gone through similar experiences and immediately felt less alone. Reading about the latest updates in medical research that will help fight this disease has given me a lot of hope and inspiration to raise funds and spread awareness so that one day no one will have to suffer from this enigmatic disease.
By donating and spreading the word to family and friends, your contribution is inevitably going to help fund the research so desperately needed to find reliable treatments and hopefully, a cure.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. It’s tax deductible.
Much love and many thanks,
