Runner Story: I first met Ashley when we both paced a friend doing his first 100 mile race and I heard all about her run across the US as we tried to talk and distract David in his last 7 miles of the race. At the time, I had just done my first two half marathons and was in complete awe that she ran across the entire US! We became friends and I have seen firsthand her dedication and passion for fundraising for MS in honor of her mom. When she first talked about the Relay, I wanted to be involved but didn’t think I could possibly run a segment. But life threw me a few curves and between wanting to support Ashley and wanting to take on a new and HUGE challenge, I decided to apply, before I had even run my first marathon.
As a physical therapist, I have worked with patients with MS and I still remember them-mostly because they were so young compared to most patients in the nursing home. It is one of the most potentially devastating diseases I have seen and we still know so little about how to prevent and/or treat it. I’m thrilled to be able to help raise awareness and funds to fight MS and am ready to ask everyone I know to support me and DONATE!!!
