NEON EXTREME FOR FTD

Thank you for visiting the NEON EXTREME fundraising page!

Team NEON EXTREME is running The Cape 13 Relay, a 188-mile race from Quincy, MA to Provincetown, Cape Cod (learn more
here) May 6th and 7th to raise money for a brain disease called Frontotemporal Dementia or FTD. FTD strikes earlier in life than the better known Alzheimers disease, and unlike Alzheimers, which affects memory, FTD destroys speech and behavior, robbing the patient of their personality and then their life. FTD is the second most common form of dementia, however, there is no government funding, no preventative medicine and no cure. Because of the ignorance surrounding FTD, people are misdiagnosed every day.

Alexandra and Graham Sparks, both on the team, are personally affected by this disease. Their father was diagnosed in 2004. For a look into their family's fight with FTD, watch the CNN special featuring the Sparks family here (filmed in 2009).
