Ramah Galil Ride 2011

Galil, Israel,

Randy Michaels's Fundraising Page

YES, I am getting back on the bike!

This challenge combines three of my families’ great passions.  Ramah, Israel, and programs for kids with special needs

For those of you who don't know, my sister-in-law, Lisa (z'l), was born with Down Syndrome and was raised by her family at a time when few resources were available for families struggling to mainstream and keep these kids at home.  Marlene and I have many friends who are raising kids with special needs and we want to ensure that they have choices and opportunities for their entire family.

I am also doing this ride as a way to honor my in-laws (Roz & Phil) and my wife Marlene. Parents and siblings of kids with special needs have a unique strength that is to be admired. Roz has spent the past six months fighting cancer and although her fight is not over, she has the courage and determination to win! I witnessed that same resolve each day as she cared for Lisa. Roz's spirit is a true inspiration.

I am honored to work for Camp Ramah in CA and have this opportunity.  I see firsthand the impact our TIKVAH programs have over 1300 campers each summer. As a Ramah WI alum, I have fond memories of the Tikvah campers and now I get to see my own sons work side by side with our Tikvah campers - making and selling lemonade one a hot summer day, praying together and experiencing all RAMAH as to offer.  I am proud of how Ramah  provides amazing life experience for all our campers.

Stephen has begun his Bar Mitzvah preparations and has chosen to focus this next year on raising awareness and creating opportunities for children with special needs living in group homes and the Ramah Tikvah programs.  More on that to come soon...

Marlene, the boys and I returned from a 2 1/2 week vacation in Israel this fall with a renewed sense of commitment to Israel and although they are jealous that I will be going back to Israel without them, they know this is an amazing cause and opportunity that they fully support.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

With much appreciation & love, Randy
