The “Barefoot for Bare Feet” movement involves coaches, governors, business leaders, teachers, pastors and many more using their platforms by performing their jobs barefoot to provide a voice for the 300,000,000 million children who wake every day in their bare feet. From across the nation, college, high school, and community coaches are coaching games in their bare feet and influencing business leaders, university and high school students and faculty to get involved to help make a difference. That's why NW Indiana Credit Unions, including REGIONAL Federal Credit Union, are joining the movement.
On June 2, 2012, several of the credit unions in NW Indiana will be participating in a 2-mile barefoot walk to raise money for Samaritan’s Feet. We are asking each of our credit unions to have 2 or 3 staff members or volunteers participate in the walk. The walk will be held at Lemon Lake County Park in Crown Point on Saturday June 2, 2012. All of the money raised by this event will be used to purchase shoes for impoverished children in this area. Please help us fulfill the credit union mission of “People Helping People.” Together we can make a difference!
Samaritan’s Feet is a charitable organization dedicated to providing shoes for impoverish worldwide, including in Indiana. Did you know that “nearly 1,000,000 people die each year as a result of foot-borne illnesses that may be preventable by simple protection – shoes”?
Samaritan’s Feet was started 8 years ago, with a goal to put 10 million pairs of shoes on children’s feet in 10 years around the world. Samaritan’s Feet serves the impoverished in over 62 countries around the world and has placed new shoes on the feet of more than 3.5 million children, but we still have a long way to go to reach our goal.
We need your help to raise as much money as possible before this year’s event. We are asking that our members sponsor the credit union staff and volunteers that will be walking in the event. Donating is as easy as clicking on the donate button above. Or, if you would prefer, checks can be brought into our credit union. Please make all checks payable to Samaritan’s Feet.
We thank you in advance for your support!
As more of us stand ‘barefoot’ together, the impact will continue to grow and more children will be given hope.
Will you provide a voice for the 300 million barefoot children around the world?
