2011 Galil Bike Ride

Welcome to my Ramah Galil Ride fundraising page!

First off, I have to say: I could not be more excited to combine two of my great loves-- Israel and cycling-- for such a remarkable cause. For those of you who aren't too familiar with the Ramah Galil Ride-- if you sponsor my ride, 100% of your donations will be supporting Ramah's Special Needs Program, "Tikvah" (the hebrew word for "hope").

The Tikvah Program provides meaningful summer camp experiences for more than 250 children, teens, and young adults with special needs each year. Having gone to Ramah every summer from Nitzanim to Machon (the youngest and oldest age groups), I experienced the positive and enriching presence the Tikvah program had on not just the kids in the program, but on the entire camp. We lived, dined and prayed side by side with these amazing and lively Tikvah campers. In fact, I cannot imagine my Ramah experience without the Tikvah program.

I've always had a passion for supporting special needs programs. My mother, Sylvie Deutsch, is a special needs teacher in the LAUSD Public School system. Her continued kindness, patience and understanding has inspired me for 26 years and I'm sure all her students would say the same.

Cycling, however, is a much newer passion. Yet, when I heard about the Ramah Galil Ride, I knew I'd have to do it! B'sheret is the word, I think. I haven't been back to Israel in so many years and I cannot wait! But before I can get on a plane and, later, my bike, I need your help.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts and all online donations go directly to Ramah International.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
