Friends, family, countrypeople, lend us your ears! This coming May, we are thrilled to be taking part in the Ramah Israel Hiking Trip 2015. We're looking forward to visiting Israel together and doing some wonderfully Jewish father-daughter bonding, but we're also excited that our participation will help fund Ramah's nationwide Tikvah Programs. The Tikvah programs are designed to give children, teens, and adults with physical, mental, and emotional special needs an opportunity to enjoy the Jewish camp experience. These programs are incredible and we're so proud to be supporting them, particularly because Rick himself has a physical disability. It's incredibly valuble to us to have this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of other individuals with special needs in the U.S. and Canada.
Some of you may recall that Rick participated in the parallel Ramah Israel Bike Ride in 2013. While he was there, he rode a tandem bike at high speeds through a very hot desert with our dear friend Derek Brouwer. Riding through the Negev from Jerusalem to Eilat with so many other geographically diverse and uniquely wonderful Ramah supporters gave Rick a truly special opportunity to reacquaint himself with the landscape and people of Israel, where he had last been as a twelve-year-old boy.
This time, Rick is taking advantage of having a pretty cool ninteen-year-old daughter who gets out of school just in time to enjoy guiding him on a one-week hike through the heights of northern Israel. (Despite Rick's best efforts, he was unable to convince her to captain a tandem.)
Eliana has never been to Israel. She is incredibly excited for this opportunity to connect on a more personal level to her spiritual and cultural heritage and history, especially because she's getting to experience it with her totally awesome dad.
It would mean so much to us if you could help us reach our fundraising goal. You can use this secure page to make a donation, or you can donate by check (made out to Camp Ramah) at the address provided below. Just make sure to put one or both of our names on the memo line. Thank you so much for your support! We appreciate your generosity.
