Implied Violence's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting the Implied Violence Fund Raising page!
Implied Violence is in dire need of your support! We are a brave, exciting American Experimental Theater Company based in Seattle, WA. We just finished performing our most ambitious project to date, "The Dorothy K." . Our presentation of "The Dorothy K." at The Donau Festival in Krems, Austria, was a massive spectacle featuring 26 artists from Seattle, as well as a 9 piece chamber orchestra from Vienna! We have been lauded at home (Stranger Genius Award 2008), nationally (Watermill Residency NY 2008, New isLand Festival NY 2009) and abroad (The Donau Festival 2010).
Why We Need Your Help!
Our Shipping Container is trapped, trapped, trapped overseas!
Implied Violence creates massive installations and large scale performance pieces. A large ocean freight container with all of our sets and props inside of it is trapped in Europe, where we last performed, due to a lack of funds to ship it home. Shipping large mechanical claws, ether machines, and other one-of-a-kind artistic creations is extremely expensive, but we must never make concessions in our setbuilding in order to present our vision wholly.
We are preparing two large-scale performance installations at The Frye Art Museum this summer and fall, as well as our first museum exhibition. We must have our container sent back to us in order to present our work in our home, and in order to do that we need your help.
Our Future Projects and Goals!
Implied Violence has many exciting future projects coming up in Seattle and abroad. Currently we are planning our first museum exhibition in October 2010 at The Frye Art Museum. Leading up to this exhibition will be two large-scale installations and performances–one this July and another concurrent with the opening in October.
We are in the first stages of recording and producing The Plague of Marcus, a five song suite created for "The Dorothy K.", composed by Brian Lawlor, with lyrics and voice by Zac Pennington of The Parenthetical Girls.
On top of all this, we have also begun to create our very own Institute of Continued Study and Applied Learning, our programming has already begun, with Meal Club: Cafe cum-PANE; Dramaturgy and Reading Group; Fitness Club; and Double Dutch Squad The Knights of Cerberus.
Our ambition continues unabated in the face of great monetary struggles.
Why You Should Help IV
Investing in Young Artists and New Work Is Important!
We are a large network of hard working, diligent artists committed to creating the highest quality work. The team of 26 artists that we took to Europe is a small fraction of the talented individuals that it takes to make this work possible. Often, too often, these artists work for below a living wage or for for free. It is our mission to pay all of our artists a fair and decent wage for the work they produce.
The core collaborative collective of Implied Violence is below 30 years old. In the short-time Implied Violence has existed we have created 27 large-scale performance pieces, run and maintained 4 different work spaces, and have earned the support and interest of a wide range of respected artists, critics, and institutions including Alanna Heiss, Herbert Blau, The Byrd Hoffman Foundation, The Donau Festival, Andrezj Wirth, Guillermo Gomez-Pena, ACT Theater, The Lawrimore Project, and The Frye Art Museum.
