Salem Academy's REACH THE BEACH Relay 2014

Thank you for visiting Salem Academy Charter School's 2014 Reach the Beach Relay fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support Salem Academy Charter School's fundraising efforts.

Salem Academy Charter School established a tradition six years ago by entering a team of 12 runners in the famous Reach the Beach Relay Race held each September in New Hampshire. We are doing it again, and we have set the fund raising goal at $12,000!

Reach the Beach is a 208 mile running race from Cannon Mountain to Hampton Beach. This year the race starts Friday morning, September 12th.  Team Salem Academy will run all day Friday, through Friday night, and arrive at the finish line by mid to late afternoon Saturday.  Runners include Team Captain, Greg Cate, Math Teacher; Sean Gass, Principal of the Upper School; Peter Copelas, Board of Trustees Chair; Ben Petrides, Paraprofessional; former staff members Rachel Hunt and Dan Smith; and six other parents and friends from the community.

Salem Academy students will send off the team with a pep rally on Thursday, the 11th.  Then, while the team is running on Friday, Salem Academy Students will participate in REACH Day.  The high school will explore Stage Fort Park in Gloucester; the 7th and 8th grade will hike Mt. Wachusett; and the 6th grade will hike the Blue Hills.

The Reach the Beach / REACH Day tradition is a celebration of fitness, health, and wellness. With positive adult role models and active participation by students, the event galvanizes the community, builds school spirit, and helps students learn the importance of healthy lifestyles.  It also serves as an attractive fund raising opportunity in support of health and fitness programs at school and in the greater Salem community. With your support the school was able to purchase new equipment, sponsor athletic teams, and fund a grant through the Salem Education Foundation.

Please join us in support of this exciting event.  Sponsor a mile and have your name or the name of your family, business, club, team, or group on a mile marker on the Reach the Beach wall at school in the Learning Common. Connections Classes are already competing to see which will be first to name a mile and then earn a “dress down day” for each mile sponsored.  Be creative – pool your gifts.  Be generous – sponsor two or more miles.  Be quick – the race is less than three weeks away!

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone else might want to donate!
