Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Last year I ran the Chicago Marathon for the first time.  Though it was not my first marathon, it was a race that I had wanted to compete in for many years.  I stayed with my sister and her family the night before the marathon, north of the city, and was lucky enough to catch a ride into the city with a friend of theirs, so I didn't have to endure an hours long commute on the L.  During the ride in, I learned that their friend was running for a charity by the name of Misericordia.

Misericordia is home to over 600 residents with developmental disabilities, and is located in Chicago.  Each year Misericordia must raise over $12 Million to cover its annual deficit. They cannot rely on the government to cover the costs of all the services they provide. The Chicago Marathon is one of the key events that raises the private dollar to help reduce the deficit.

I decided at that time, and told my sisters friend, that if I ran the Chicago Marathon again, I would run to raise money for his charity.  I have always completed these races with only myself in mind; my training and goals geared simply toward a finish time.  Now I will run with another goal; to raise money for an organization that provides services to individuals whom otherwise would not  have that opportunity.  As someone who has spent the better part of the last 15 years working in the not for profit sector, i know that every dollar raised for an organization such as Misericordia counts.

As many of you know I have trained hard over the past 8 months, and am excited about running the Chicago Marathon again this year as my last big race of the season.  I have spent many early mornings and long weekend hours to prepare.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.  Remember, every dollar counts, so whether you can give $5 or $500, you are helping me to reach my goal and helping the individuals who rely on Misericordia for services daily.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
