Six for Tea: Wallers for Japan Disaster Relief

On March 11, 2011 a magnitude-8.9 earthquake hit off the shore of Japan, unleashing a 23-foot (seven-meter) tsunami and leaving enormous destruction in its wake.

Hundreds have been killed in this disaster and thousands have been left homeless, as the tsunami swept through, causing mass destruction and setting off widespread fires that burned out of control. The nuclear situation to-date is still ongoing, with heavy ramifications for the rest of the world.

Inspired by the efforts of other creative communities, we as anime/manga wallers decided to start fundraising to help a country that has touched us all, in the way that we know best. As thanks for your donation, we will send you a link to a small collection of wallpapers that we have made for this cause. We also plan to hold raffles for custom wallpaper requests from donors once we hit certain fundraising milestones!

Your donations will go to Mercy Corps, which has (in cooperation with partner organization Peace Winds) delivered emergency supplies — including large shelters, tents, kerosene space heaters, blankets, instant rice and fresh produce — to families evacuated from homes in four tsunami-devastated cities. Mercy Corps has also launched Comfort for Kids, a program to help children recover from the traumatic effects of a large-scale disaster. Comfort for Kids is a priority in Japan because the continuing stress of aftershocks, combined with grief and loss, make it critical to provide children with emotional support as soon as possible.

Thank you for your contribution to this cause!
