Please consider donating to support this year's COTS Walk!

This October, 141 school children were homeless in Chittenden County, VT, and an additional 48 children under the age of five were either living in a COTS shelter or on the COTS Family Shelter's waiting list. That's nearly 200 homeless children under the age of 18 in our community.

COTS is currently able to serve 25 families between three family shelters, and served 107 families in the 2011 fiscal year. What is even more remarkable though, is the outstanding prevention outcomes that COTS has achieved through the Housing Resource Center (HRC). This program has helped so many on the verge of homelessness to retain their housing in these difficult economic times - 816 families between July 2008 and June 2011. Overall, 92% of households helped through the HRC have not requested additional assistance.

Please help us address this very complicated issue, through prevention, case management, shelter, permanent, and transitional housing. Every dollar makes a difference. You can make a difference for homeless families, individuals, and veterans. COTS serves those in need locally, but is an innovative organization that is a model for others nationwide.

This is my first year walking for COTS. I joined the COTS staff in 2011 and have been moved by the incredible passion of my fellow employees and the good work COTS does. It has made me want to do more, and in turn teach our girls about giving back and helping others. I hope you'll support us as we walk in the community we now call home.

Thank you so much for your support,

The Sheehan Family - Stacey, Chris, Hailey & Riley
