THE CYCLE: Living A Taboo is fiscally sponsored by WMM, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Contributions are tax deductible.
WHAT: The Cycle: Living a Taboo is a documentary-in-progress focusing on the Emotional Tolls associated with Infertility and the use of Reproductive Technologies (directed by award winning filmmaker Irina Vodar, edited by Academy Award © nominated editor Cindy Kaplan Rooney).
WHY: Infertility is a condition that affects every 8th couple of childbearing age, yet we do not have a language or a cultural protocol to acknowledge and support our loved ones in the time of great distress. The use of Reproductive Technologies introduces a delay between forming an attachment to the idea of parenthood and the actual physical conception. Continued negative reinforcement of the disparity generates enormous emotional duress for infertility patients and is not yet socially addressed.
WHERE: Infertility is a global issue that affects people regardless of their economical status, geographical location or belief systems. Glorification of technological advancements and success outcomes in the media creates deception and false expectations for millions of patients who grapple with the loss of biological continuity. (77% global failure rate and nearly 70% in the United States per IVF cycle as of 2012).
HOW: A documentary that delivers an unflinching look at the experience of failed Infertility treatment is much needed to interject a sense of responsibility into the Brave New Frontier of Science.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our non-profit fundraising efforts.
