Join Global H2O and Broughton High School students for the second annual Walk for Water!
By exceeding last year's fundraising goal, we fully funded a well that was built in Ajuku Manyinge, Uganda, and we are excited to fund another well this year!
What is the goal of The Walk For Water?
Help us raise $7500 to build a well that provides an entire village with a lifetime supply of safe water! The funds raised from this event will go toward the construction of a well in rural Northern Uganda. Our goal will be reached through both donations and the registration fee for the walk.
The Walk for Water is intended to raise awareness in our community about the importance of access to clean water, and the vast issues that arise from the lack of it.
Why is increasing access to clean water important?
Many womrn in Africa and Asia must walk an average of 3.7 miles in order to collect water for her and her family. We are extremely privileged to be living in a place where clean water is only a few seconds away, and it is easy to forget the efforts millions of people must go through just to have water on a daily basis. Water is essential to life, yet polluted water is the cause of death for about 1.8 million people every year.

What happens at the Walk For Water?
We will be doing a simulation on the track of just half that distance, so we can experience the trip just to the water source. When you finish this walk, we hope you will gain perspective of what it would be like to have to endure this everyday. Imagine if the journey to your sink was a 3.7 mile round trip; the difference is you can trust that your water will be safe to drink!
How you can contribute:
We are requesting a $20 registration fee which will serve as your donation to the well, and you will be provided with a t-shirt.
We encourage you to raise money on your own in addition to your registration! You are able to create a fundraising page during your registration on FirstGiving.
There will be two starting times for the walk. At 10:00 AM, there will be a walk for families, and there will be a walk for individuals and teams at 11:30 AM. Please use registration below and choose the correct option for the time you plan to attend. Registration for children is $15.
The Walk For Water will be an educational experience to help develop us into global citizens, and it will bring the necessary resource of safe, accessible water to those in need.
****The t-shirt deadline has passed. We are experiencing technical errors that are resulting in registrants still being asked for their t-shirt size despite t-shirts no longer being an option. We apologize for the inconveince, and we are doing our best to resolve it.
