Gift of Sight 2012

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Over 300 million people worldwide suffer from low vision and blindness. Many of these people have little or no access to basic eye care. Normal vision may be restored, or blindness prevented, through basic eye exams, glasses, or surgery.

The Gift of Sight program is sending eye care teams to underserved communities to help fight blindness and give the gift of sight. The team of volunteers and doctors are making a difference by setting up eye camps for children and adults, teaching local doctors and nurses new diagnostic and surgical techniques, and donating medications, surgical equipment, and prescription eyeglasses.

This October, the Gift of Sight team will return to Guatemala to run the third annual Humanity First surgical eye clinic and optometry camp. Please support the dedicated volunteers by making a contribution to their fundraising pages below -- any amount will make a difference. You can give the gift of sight with a $100 donation to cover costs for one cataract surgery.
