Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary

Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary is the largest, no-kill Sanctuary in the Midwest and is dedicated to finding loving homes for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs. MAS was founded by The Azzar Family in August of 1999 after the passing of their beloved family dog, Mackenzie.

Our Mission at Mackenzie's is to:
• find loving homes for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs
• spay/neuter our rescued dogs to stop the cycle of unwanted litters
• assist in public education for the betterment of our local animal community
• and to maintain the highest standards of care for the animals, including veterinary care, housing, love, tenderness and compassion.

As space allows, Mackenzie's policy is to assist animal control agencies and humane societies by taking in dogs that may otherwise be euthanized due to space and time limitations. Mackenzie's takes these dogs in and truly gives them a second chance at life by providing "a home along the way" until they find their forever families. Mackenzie's has the capacity to house up to 120+ dogs.

Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary is federally recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. MAS is funded solely by private donations and fundraisers such as the Annual Fall Walk-a-thon. MAS does not receive any state, local or federal funding.

Pups & Pucks Fall Walk-a-thon supporters have raised enough money over the past 5 years to complete the construction of our very own on-site Veterinary Clinic.  With your help we will be able to provide our Sanctuary dogs with even better veterinary care in a much more time efficient and cost effective manner.
