MCHS Paws in the Park Dog Walk & Fest 2017

Sunday, April 23, 2017

Star in our movie and walk for the animals!

Your pet has a home, but there are thousands of cats and dogs in our community who are homeless.  You can make a difference in their lives by fundraising for the animals.

Here's how to help:

Join MCHS on Sunday, April 23, for our 19th Annual Paws in the Park spring fundraiser at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg, in partnership with the City of Gaithersburg, 12 noon to 4 p.m.  Registration is $15 per individual for adults and children over 12; children 12 and under are free.  The first 750 paid attendees receive a goody bag with fun items and savings -- worth over $25!  Walk-in registration will be $25 for adults and children over 12.

Get involved with Paws in the Park -- emceed by Jen Richer of 94.7 Fresh FM's The Tommy Show!

  • Register and invite friends to help
  • Donate a gift to get it started
  • Ask others to help you raise funds
  • Bring the family & bring your dog
  • We'll have a fun afternoon of contests, demos, vendors, food, music & so much more!
  • Kids 12 & under, free! Moonbounce, facepainting, scavenger hunt, games & more

Is your pup a fashionista? Make sure you enter her in the "best dressed dog" contest. Or put your dog through the paces at our Agility Center and compete with others. Stop by one of our vendors and check out new products.  Looking for a new vet? Lots of area veterinarians are eager to meet you at Paws in the Park.  Curious about the Canine Good Citizens test? We'll have a team demonstrate "what it takes" to pass.  Watch local dog groups perform demos such as dog dancing, tricks and more.

We're Making a Movie and Your Dog Can Be a Star!  Visit our "movie set" at Paws in the Park -- we'll film families with their pets, and share personal stories about how adopting a pet has enriched your lives. Using the theme "Find Your Best Friend", we'll edit the best clips into montages, and post them on social media showing the joys of pet adoption.  (Don't worry -- cats included off-site)

Come and have a great time, but don't forget what it's all about:  So many animals need help, and this event brings in the funds to help them. Paws in the Park is lots of fun for everyone but imagine how much more fun pets have when there is a devoted family like yours to spend time with them every day.  MCHS rescues hundreds of cats and dogs each year from crowded area shelters and finds them loving homes.

Your donations pay for:

      $50      5 rabies vaccinations

$100    Food for 10-15 cats and dogs for a week

$250    Spay/neuter for up to 4 cats or 2 dogs

$500    Preventive vaccinations and treatments for up to 50 cats and dogs

$1000  Surgeries/treatments for chronic medical conditions

Follow us on Facebook at and on Twitter at for updated information about planned activities for Paws in the Park.

We'll see you on April 23 -- the animals are counting on you!

Thank you for supporting the animals!
