Driving "Fore" a Cure for PH
The first annual Driving "Fore" a Cure for PH will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Riverwood Golf Course in Clayton, North Carolina. The Driving "Fore" a Cure for PH Golf Tournament is being held to raise funds and awareness to support PH research and find a cure. Our goal is to raise $25,000. 100% of the proceeds will go to research, and 40% will be allocated to the Robyn Barst Pediatric PH Research and Mentoring Fund. The day will feature great food, music, and a wonderful day of golf.
The inspiration for this golf tournament is my 2 year old son Jackson. He was diagnosed last August with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). PH is a chronic, incurable, life threatening and progressive lung disease that creates narrowing of the blood vessels in the lungs which causes additional strain on the right side of the heart. If left untreated, PH can lead to failure of the right side of the heart. The good news is that we fortunately caught the disease early enough where treatment is still an option. There have been some significant advancements on treatments of Pulmonary Hypertension over the last 10 years, but there is still no cure, with the exception of a lung transplant. Please help us find a cure for Jackson and for all other PHighters by supporting this event!
