My name is Eli Kaufman and this October 21st I will be celebrating my Bar Mitzvah. For my Mitzvah project, I want to raise money for research and awareness for the disease Reflex Sympatheic Dystrophy (RSD)/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome(CRPS). I will achieve this by continuing a walk my sister Naomi created for her mitzvah project. The walk is called the RSD/CRPS Cruisin For a Cure 1, 2 or 3 Mile Fun Walk. Together, on Saturday, May 6, 2017, Naomi and I will host the 2nd RSD/CRPS Cruisin For a Cure 1, 2 or 3 Mile Fun Walk.
Our mother, Kymme Kaufman, has suffered with RSD for over 29 years. It was first diagnosed in her right leg when she was 14 years old. Over the years it has spread to her right arm and right ankle. RSD affects every aspect of her life. RSD is a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week battle.
RSD is a debilitating nerve disorder characterized by severe burning pain, pathological changes in bone and skin, excessive sweating, tissue swelling and extreme sensitivity to touch.
CURRENTLY THERE IS NO CURE!
100% of funds raised from this walk for RSDSA will help fulfill RSDSA’s mission to promote greater awareness and earlier recognition of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), fund critical research, and provide support to people with CRPS and their loved ones. Approximately 50,000 new cases of CRPS occur each year, yet most individuals or medical professionals are not familiar with it. It is our goal to make CRPS a household name.
Your participation and contribution supports RSDSA’s mission. Together we can make a difference one step at a time.
