On-Site Registration will be open from 7:15am to 8:15am

in the morning at Independence Grove

Making Strides for Special Kids is a 5K Run/Walk and Kids' 1 Mile Sprint to raise funds for special needs children and their families in Lake County. This funding will enrich the educational, vocational, and social opportunities for children with disabilities.

This event will be like no other. In addition to the 5K run/walk and kids' sprint, we will feature a capable/handicapable event. Capable runners and walkers will partner with special needs runners/walkers/wheelchair participants to experience a “race” – many for the first time.

As a fundraiser, you can designate where your money goes. For example, your funds raised can go toward adaptive equipment (voice output devices, adaptive trikes, etc), or school or class projects (field trip fund, backpack program for those children whose families need food for the weekends, etc) or emergency funds for families, or to camp scholarships! These are just a few examples!

Chip timing for the 5K will be provided by Lakeshore Athletic Services.

This year, two fantastic prizes will be awarded. A $250 cash prize will be given to the youth team with the most participants and to the youth team with the most funds raised above $250.
