SHELTER, Inc. of Contra Costa County

AT SHELTER, INC. WE BELIEVE EVERY CHILD SHOULD HAVE A HOME.

Far too many families are homeless and without hope. They struggle to keep a roof over their children’s heads. And the high cost of rental housing and the lack of fundamental skills, such as literacy and job skills, put even more families at risk.

With the generous support of the community, SHELTER, Inc. gives families a safe place to live, meeting their most basic needs, while offering services such as education, employment development and counseling. By providing these life-long tools, families are able to transform their lives and the future of their children.

Since 1986, SHELTER, Inc. has served over 195,000 men, women and children in Contra Costa County. With a mission to prevent and end homelessness for low-income residents of Contra Costa County by providing resources that lead to self-sufficiency, SHELTER, Inc. uses a three tier approach aimed at preventing homelessness, breaking the cycle of homelessness and providing affordable housing.
