Help Bring Comfort and Joy to Hospitalized Kids
July 1 - 28, 2017
St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital treats tens of thousands of Tampa Bay’s Children every year. Whether they arrive by ambulance, are recovering from open-heart surgery, or undergoing cancer treatment, they receive the finest medical care and emotional support available.
Making Spirits Bright
Health care settings are often stressful and frightening experiences for children and families. Providing recreation, developmental play, and play therapy gives kids strategies for coping and bring a momentary escape from their illness. However, these experiences are considered non-essential and are not covered by insurance providers. It is through generous community support, and events like Christmas in July, that St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital is able to provide these services that dramatically alter a child’s hospital experience.
Examples of activities, therapies, and specialized equipment that Christmas in July donations will fund include:
- Art and Music Therapy
- MRI Distraction Goggles
- Healing Touch and Massage Therapy
- Movie/Karaoke Nights
- Bedside Activities
Donations- If you are an individual who wants to make a straight donation, click the fundraiser’s tab above and choose a team to support. No matter which team you choose to go through, 100% of your donation will go to the Children’s Hospital.
Individuals- If you are an individual who loves St. Joe’s Kids and wants to become a fundraiser for this event, click the red FUNDRAISE button in the top, right-hand corner. Select “I registered offline and need to create a fundraising page” and then you can begin to customize your page, send emails to possible supporters, and accept donations from your family and friends! You do not need to join a team when choosing this option.
Teams- If you are a company, civic organization, or other group that will have several people asking for donations, you can create a group with a team captain and multiple fundraisers that will all feed into one fundraising goal. To create or join a team, follow the directions above for individuals. When you come to the “Join a Team” section, you can either start a new team, or join a team if another team member already created the page.
