Every four years Special Olympics athletes from across the United States have an opportunity to compete in the Special Olympics USA Summer Games. Seattle, Washington, will host the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games July 1-6 for more than 4,000 athletes and coaches representing 50 state Programs and the District of Columbia, along with the support of tens of thousands of volunteers and spectators, in this extraordinary event featuring competition in 14 Olympic-type team and individual sports. Special Olympics North Carolina’s delegation is made up of 61 athletes and 19 coaches in 11 sports.
While the Games will highlight competition, special events including Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Healthy Athletes screenings, athlete events and educational programs throughout the week, will create an experience of a lifetime for all athletes, families and volunteers in attendance…..leading to a change in understanding and acceptance of persons with intellectual disabilities.
Your help is requested for the necessary funding for the North Carolina delegation to be a part of this outstanding experience. Special Olympics North Carolina will provide a weekend training camp prior to the summer as well as uniforms, transportation to/from Seattle, and other costs associated with participation. Please support one of our athletes, teams, or coaches listed on this page.
