Sports Illustrated writer, Peter King, is running a half marathion to support Team Gleason.
Peter King will be running his second half-marathon on Sept. 29th, the Hamptons Half-Marathon on eastern Long Island. The money raised will benefit retired NFLer Steve Gleason's efforts to build an in-patient residence to serve ALS patients in New Orleans and allow them to live as independently as possible. Gleason, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2011, figures the residence -- which he hopes to build as a separate floor of a New Orleans nursing home -- will cost between $750,000 and $1 million to establish. Peter has pledged $1,000 to the cause if he finishes the run in 2 hours 20 minutes or less, and $2,000 if he either doesn't finish or runs slower than 2:20.
