Benefiting Special Olympics Virginia

Each summer, law enforcement officials from across Virginia carry the Flame of Hope on a 1,900 journey to the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games Opening Ceremony in Richmond. This 8-day Torch Run involves more than 2,000 law enforcement officers and personnel representing more than 200 law enforcement agencies across Virginia.

In the Shenandoah area (Region 6) the Torch Run occurs over two days.  It begins in the center of downtown Winchester and ends in New Market.  The Flame of Hope is passed along this route from one law enforcement agency to another.
