The 8th Annual Christmas Mall
Hosted by The Women of Hope of Greater Orlando
December 9, 2017
This holiday season, it's important to support toy collections that distribute gifts in a dignified, effective and meaningful way. Through a longstanding partnership with United Against Poverty, the Women of Hope of Greater Orlando are excited to again offer one such event.
About The Event
Often low-income families are not able to celebrate the holidays and make those long-lasting memories and traditions we all cherish. The Christmas Mall offers a dignified shopping experience where struggling parents have the opportunity to personally select gifts for their children. All families who benefit from the Christmas Mall must:
Parents visit the Christmas Mall at their reserved time and are accompanied by a personal shopper who helps them find age-appropriate toys and stocking stuffers for each child. In keeping with our "hand up, not a hand out" model, parents make a small contribution (up to $7 per child) in exchange for $60-$100 worth of gifts for that child. Being able to personally choose their items and contribute creates a sense of empowerment - and along with it, the growing hope, dignity and confidence needed to do what it takes to get out of their difficult situation.
