Our mission is to connect and build the power of community organizations to challenge and transform individuals, organizations and systems to achieve racial, gender and economic justice.
We envision our movements achieving a just society where we all flourish in sustainable, caring and connected communities.

Our Programs

Our Gender Justice Program addresses the intersections of reproductive justice, family security and LGBTQ equality in the context of racial and economic justice. Through our We Are BRAVE (Building Reproductive Autonomy and Voices for Equity) project we support organizations engaging in reproductive justice campaigns. Adapted from the Uniting Communities, which worked with nearly twenty organizations of color over eight years to yield policy and culture change for LGBTQ justice, comes our newest program, Two Spirit Tribal Justice Cohort. The program builds capacity for tribal leaders working in solidarity with Two Spirit people to ensure that all Two Spirit / LGBTQ people have the same access and opportunities as other tribal citizens.

Our Racial Justice Program supports organizations that build power in communities of color and address vital racial justice issues. We provide strategic assistance for racial justice organizing campaigns; strengthen groups working in immigrant and refugee communities; develop and promote tools that foster racial equity in the region; and collaborate to produce Facing Race Oregon: Legislative Report on Racial Equity.

Strong leaders are made, not born. To that end, leadership development is a primary focus in all Center programs. Strong leaders sustain solid organizations and thriving communities, creating a vibrant progressive movement. Our Leadership Development and Community Organizing Program builds from two projects: AMP (Activisit Mobilizing for Power), a unique three-day training and networking conference for community-based leaders, staff, and volunteers of groups organizing for justice, and WILD (Western Institute for Leadership Development), a year-long intensive training program for emerging organizers and activists.
